_MORGAN SHEPHERD CHARITABLE FUND CELEBRATES 26TH ANNUAL EVENT
_ Since 1976,
Morgan Shepherd has been devoting his time throughout each racing season to
raise funds and gather donations to help those less fortunate. Over 26 years,
Morgan's efforts has materialized into a federally licensed 501C(3) charitable
organization and an outstanding fun-filled event every December in the Blue
Ridge Mountains of Virginia to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas.
On Monday, December 17th, The Morgan Shepherd Charitable Fund celebrated it's 26th anniversary with a breakfast show at The Parc Workshop in Stuart,
Virginia. Guests included comedian and musician Barry McGee, along with drivers
Dennis Setzer, Johnny Chapman, PRN and ESPN radio Mark Garrow among many others. Entertainment included music, dancing, Morgan in his familiar race uniform, in his roller-skates shaking hands and shaking a leg, singing and then signing autographs.
The Morgan Shepherd Charitable Fund was very blessed and happy to have raise
$11,000 for The Parc Workshop in Stuart,Virginia to assist those who have
disabilities. The Parc Workshop teaches these special folks how to take care of
themselves in the home and be more independent by doing things we take for
granted everyday such as cooking, cleaning, making a bed, and ironing
clothes. But the day did not end there. Morgan and his band of missionaries then
traveled through the mountains to the Rex Theater in Galax, Virginia for a show and some good ol'
fashioned Christian revival that included music and entertainment. Morgan also paid tribute to those lives lost in CT. Morgan paid tribute by lighting 28 candles. "I can not understand how anyone can hurt those precious children, he was sick, just a sick man", Morgan said. There wasn't a dry eye in the house. Also, 2 of Morgan's race-car haulers filled with gift boxes and food made
it's way to The Rex Theatre. Each gift box was filled with toys, candy and
clothing items for the poor and poverished in the Blue Ridge Mountain area. .
"I'm so proud of what we have been able to accomplish over the past 26 years. This is what it's all about, helping others in need. I'm
so very blessed to be able to do what I do in NASCAR where it gets very hectic and
crazy sometimes but this puts it all back into perspective. Seeing all those faces with smiles, joy, laughter and singing is awesome. It's just
fantastic!" said Morgan. Morgan and the Morgan Shepherd Charitable Fund would like to extend a "thank you" to all
those who made our 26th year possible and a big success. If you would like to
make a donation of any amount you can, anytime, all through the year, for our 2012 trip. Just go to www.morganshepherdcharitablefund.org .
