WATKINS GLEN, NY - When Morgan Shepherd takes to the first of two late season road courses this weekend at Watkins Glen it will be in a new car.
Over the summer, Faith Motorsports purchased a Dodge Charger road course car from Ganassi Racing and had it converted to match Shepherd's fleet of Chevrolet Impalas.
"We had a pretty good road course car from last year, but we had the opportunity to get this Ganassi car which was a little better," Shepherd said. "We need to do everything in our power to be as prepared as we can be and we think this car will do a little better for us."
Last year's road course car, a black Chevrolet which Faith obtained from Joe Gibbs Racing just prior to last summer's road course races, will be leased to Herd Racing for this year's road races at The Glen and Montreal. Herd Racing also purchased Shepherd's Earnhardt-Childress Racing road race engine from last year.
"The engine was gone through and we found some more horsepower so Brett Rowe should have a good car for these races as well," Shepherd said.
