World-renowned musician Kellie Pickler headlined a large group of entertainers who left a crowd of more than 1,200 people happy they were part of the 23rd annual Morgan Shepherd Charitable Fund mission trip on December 14.
The former American Idol contestent, along with the Mountain Creek Harmony band, performed to a packed house at the First Baptist Church of Galax, Virginia, during a free evening concert.
The daylong charity trip began with a private tour of the Wood Brothers Racing Museum and a breakfast event at the PARC Workshop in Stuart, Virginia, for the facility's clients . PARC is a training center for the mentally and physically disabled where the clients learn basic life skills such as cleaning, cooking, and how to manufacture and refinish furniture.
The charity made an annual donation to the workshop to help with it's annual operating expenses.
The afternoon event featured Pickler, as well as "The Mayberry Deputy" David Browning and Christian Comedian Barry McGee.
Several NASCAR drivers also attended, including Shepherd, Camping World Truck Series star Dennis Setzer, and Nationwide regulars Johnny Chapman and Brett Rowe. Performance Radio Network broadcaster Mark Garrow emceed the events.
At the conclusion of the events, the charity distributed nearly 1,500 gift bags to the handicapped and less fortunate who attended the two events, and more than 20 people received Christ as their savior as a result of the day's activities.
