BRISTOL, TN - Morgan Shepherd qualifed the Racing With Jesus Chevrolet into the 16th row for Saturday's Scotts Turf Builder 300 at Bristol Motor Speedaway, finishing the race in the 35th spot.
Shepherd said the team started the race with low air pressure, expecting it to quickly rise.
"I just had to get out of people's way at the beginning," Shepherd said of the early stages of the race. "Once we got going it was better, but we weren't very good at the start."
The #89 Dealtaker.com Chevy was able to run consistent lap times during the mid stages of the race before succombing to handling issues just past the mid point of the 300 lap contest.
"We went as far as two sets of tires will take you," Shepherd said. "With us missing the last two races we just weren't in a financial position to be able to buy any more than that."
Shepherd said his staff will continue looking for sponsors and be back at the track at Nashville in two weeks.
